On the 7 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu start at your arrival to Cusco, you will have the chance to engage in additional city activities or relax by yourself before challenging on the Inca Trail.

The Inca trail as used only the Emperor Inca and is royal crown as a difference of other paths.  This journey was a pilgrim trail to the Apus or sacred mountains before arriving to his royal house, Machu Picchu.  You will be tracing back the Inca steps and appreciate the beauty scenery which very well know by a well recognised adventurers travellers.

On this  Inca Trail to Machu Picchu there is an option to visit the extraordinary Sacred valley and visit its villages.  In other words, this tour has a lot to offer you meanwhile you are staying in the land of the Incas.

Day 1 Flight to the Imperial city of the Incas

After you arrive in Cusco, you will be picked up and taken you to your hotel, where you will spend the night. You will have a whole day to relax.  Optional: Cusco City tour (Not Included)

Day 2 Open (Extra activities to do)

Day 3 The Start of the Adventure – "Inca flat"

Pickup from your hotel around 4 or 4:30am and travel by bus to Piskacucho, where the trail begins. Upon arrival at kilometer 82, this is the trail's first control point, you will have to show your entrance tickets, passports and your student card. The first day is relatively easy you will have great views of an Incan Fortress, the vast and incredible Incan site of Llactapata, known in books as Veronica. Your first campsite called Ayapata.

Day 4 The Trail Trial

Upon waking up at 5am and having breakfast, you will start a steep ascent towards the highest pass along the Inca Trail called the Abra de Warrmihuañusca . After lunch, you shall begin your second 2-hour steep climb towards Runkuraqay pass. Arrive to your campsite.

Day 5 Back in the past

Wake up for breakfast around 6am to start the day with a gentle climb and visit the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca. Arrive at your third campsite, Wiñay Wayna.

Day 6 Machu Picchu in its glory

Leave our last campsite at about 5:30am. It’s an early start in order to get to Inti Punku otherwise known as the Sun gate before sunrise. Finally, you will visit Machu Picchu! Your tour guide will give you a walking tour (2 hours) and after this, you can explore the mysterious citadel by yourself. You can reach this town by bus or foot have lunch and be given your train tickets back to Cusco.

Day 7 Bye Bye Cusco!

After having breakfast in the hotel, you will be picked up and taken to the airport in order to catch your plane.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Wiñay Wayna - Machu Picchu

Stop At: Inca Trail, Cusco 08000 Peru
We pick you up from your hotel early (depending on train time) and take you to the train station. We travel by train, on a very pictures in route for two and a half hours until we reach kilometer 104 – the start of the trail for us. From here, we have a walk of about 4 hours up to the Incan site Wiñay Wayna ('Forever Young') (2680m/8792ft). You have joined the path in time to see the most impressive site on the whole Inca Trail!!

Then, we will continue on to 'Inti Punku' ('Sun gate') (2730m/8792ft) from where you will have your first dramatic, panoramic view of Machu Picchu (2400m/7873ft). We will walk down the last part of the trail towards the ancient city itself. Before reaching Machu Picchu, we will take a side path off the trail to go down to Aguas Calientes, leaving the visit to Machu Picchu for the next day. In Aguas Calientes we'll have dinner and a much deserved rest so we're recharged and ready for Machu Picchu the next day.

Day 2: Machu Picchu Tour – Return train to Cusco

Stop At: Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes), Signposted from main square, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu Peru
We have breakfast and then take the first bus (5:30am) up to Machu Picchu. A walking tour (2 hours) is given by your guide and after this you can explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If you have energy, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m/8890ft)!!! (It takes about 45 minutes to reach the top.)

You will meet your guide in Aguas Calientes (it can be reached by bus or on foot) for lunch and be given your train tickets back to Cusco (Bus transfer from Ollantaytambo). The train usually leaves between 2:30pm and 6pm depending on Peru Rail's allocations and availability (to be confirmed).

If desired, an extra night in Aguas Calientes can be arranged. This option is very popular as it allows more time to explore Machu Picchu. You can also go to the thermal springs in town - a real treat after finishing the Inca Trail.

NOTE: It is no longer possible to stay a night on the Inca Trail for the 2 day, 1 night trek. All people on this tour spend the night in Aguas Calientes, the town nearest Machu Picchu.

Huayna Picchu:

There is a new regulation for climbing this mountain.

Tickets for this mountain need to be booked well in advance; there are two time sessions: 7 - 8am or 10 – 11am – this also needs to be specified when booking the trip.

Please note: if you get the permits for the 7am start you will probably have to miss the Machu Picchu guided tour.

After filling up on delicious food, you'll be ready for the next part of the day trip.

Following lunch, continue on your tour to Ollantaytambo, home to a magnificent Inca fortress that you can explore. This historic fortress was where Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle against the Inca Empire. After you visit the fortress, you'll have time to walk around the cobblestone streets of Ollantaytambo before heading back to Cusco.

This Full –Day Tours depart from you hotel in Cusco between 3:45 am - 4:00 am. You will be transferred by tourist bus to Ollantaytambo train station, gateway to Machu Picchu.

The entire trip from Cuzco to Aguas Calientes takes about 4 hours in total, with many spectacular views along the way as you pass through lush fields and colorful villages in the foothills of the Andes. You will also see the Urubamba River. From Aguas Calientes, you will have bus trip up to Machu Picchu that zigzags up the mountain and last approximately 30 minutes.

When you reach Machu Picchu, you will able to explore the most important sacred place like, the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and even the Royal Inca Cemeteries. At the end of the day, the bus will transfer you back down to Aguas Calientes where you will have lunch (own expense), and visit the small market for the last minutes shopping.
