Day 1: Start the Inca Trail

Let the big adventure begin! After our hotel pick up we will go to Piscacucho (2,750 m/9,022 ft.), at Km. 82 on the tracks to enter the Inca Trail. Our trip will start with a slow pace walk to get used to the trail. We will be able to see the beautiful snowcapped mountain Veronica and we’ll get to a natural viewpoint from where we will see the archaeological site of Llaqtapata. Our first campsite will take place at Huayllabamba (3,000 m /9,842 ft.)

Day 2: Inca Trail

Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
The most intense day of the Inca Trail is here so make sure to bring some extra sugary sweets in your pocket for extra energy. We will walk through the Valley of Huayllabamba while we observe the ecological changes of going from the highlands to the plateau. In Yunca Chimpa we start the ascent to Llulluchapampa (3,750 mt. / 12,303 ft.). While we enjoy a refreshing snack, the Huayanay Valley is in front of us, and the challenge of the day: the defiant Warmiwañusca mountain pass (4,200 mt. / 13,779 ft.), also known as “Dead Woman” mountain pass. If we are lucky we´ll get to see the beautiful hummingbirds and sparrows that live in the area. Finally it is time to descend to our campsite in Pacaymayo (3,600 mt. / 11,811 ft.) for lunch and rest after this challenging day.

Day 3: Winay Wayna

Stop At: Winay Wayna, Machu Picchu Peru
A day filled with archaeological sites in our trail, the longest but also the most impressive and least difficult day. We will ascend to the Runcuracay mountain pass (3,860 mt. / 12,664 ft.) to see the archaeological complex of the same name to later continue to the Sayacmarca Inca fortress (3,580 mt. / 11,745 ft.). After lunch, it’s time to cross the Phuyupatamarca Mountain pass (3,700 mt. / 12,139 ft.). In this area we will see the best preserved Inca complex in all the Inca Trail, whose name in English translates to “over the clouds”. After a well-deserved rest, we will continue to Wiñaywayna (2,650 mt. / 8,694 ft.), an impressive Inca complex with numerous agricultural terraces and religious and urban areas. This will be end of the day for us; we will set camp and enjoy our farewell dinner.

Day 4: Temple of the Sun and Machu Picchu!

We’ll get up at dawn to ascend through a narrow way of steps until we get to Intipunku or the Door of the Sun (2,720 mt. / 8,923 ft.) and get a first glance of Machu Picchu (2,450 mt. / 8,038 ft.) at sunrise, a memorable experience to capture in pictures. We will then go down for a guided tour of the fortress and the opportunity to learn and see everything there is to see of one of the Seven Wonders of the World. At the arranged time, we will return to Cusco.

Day 1: IQUITOS / AMAZONAS SINCHICUY LODGE

You will be given a brief orientation by the city of Iquitos, observing the main tourist places of this thriving and historic city of eastern Peru that in the 19th century became a small town to the most important river port in the Amazon, acquiring a surprising condition cosmopolitan during the so-called "Rubber Fever". Transfer to the pier to start the boat trip to the Lodge. You will navigate the largest river in the world, the Amazon River, aboard comfortable and safe boats.

Visit to Fundo Pedrito, place located in the town of Barrio Florido. Here we can observe different species of local flora and fauna. It is in this place where you can see the paiche, the largest fish in the Amazon. In addition a hatchery of lizards and piranhas wait for you.

Arrival at the Amazon Sinchicuy Lodge which is 45 minutes (NE downstream) from Iquitos. Our Lodge, built in a native style with natural materials, is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers, a true tropical garden on a non-flooding high ground or "restinga", where varieties of birds and butterflies abound. Our staff will receive you with a pleasant welcome drink made with fruit from the region (cocona, camu-camu, copoazu, etc.).

ECOCULTU RAL Circuit (Ecosystem of the Sinchicuy River Basin)

Excursion on foot or by canoe –as the station allows- to “New Peru”, where the Yagua ethnic community is established, whose ancestors were discovered by Francisco de Orellana in his first exploration of the Amazon in 1541. This visit It will allow you to know their ancestral customs, appreciate their original dress of palm fibers and even try aiming with the “pucuna” (blowgun) that the Yaguas used for centuries for hunting.
Your guide will invite you to participate in the “Plant a Tree” Project in the area of ​​reforestation.
Then, he will undertake the ethnobotanical excursion. You will be able to know very particular species of the vegetable kingdom such as cat's claw, sour cane, copaiba, aguaje and even the so-called "rope of the dead" or ayahuasca. Tour through the Santa Maria de Ojeal riverside estate, where you will observe some of the productive activities that its inhabitants develop; Fruit orchards, fish farm with native species, cattle raising. Day 2: AMAZONAS SINCHICUY LODGE / FULL DAY YANAYACU / KINGDOM OF THE GIANT TREES

Stop At: Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge, Alzamora 187, Iquitos 16000, Peru
Birdwatching: During the early hours of the morning (05:00 to 06:00 am) it is the right time to observe many of the bird species that feed on the banks of the river or the plantations found in the Community surroundings.
Breakfast. Fresh juices and fruit jams that are produced in the region (papaya, orange, melon, cocona) accompany hot dishes and drinks to start the morning. Immediately after breakfast you will board the boat that will take you to the opposite end of the Amazon or as it is said in the regional language to “huashalado”. During this trip of approximately 40 minutes the boat will stop at a place in the river where it is usually possible to observe pink dolphins, due to its somewhat shy nature, it is necessary to have patience and be attentive to spot them, with an unforgettable photo will reward the effort.

Upon reaching the community of Huashalado you can observe cassava (mandioca), banana, papaya and other typical products of riparian agriculture. You will notice that unlike the Sinchicuy ecosystem, the terrain here is mostly low and flooded during the growing season. Depending on the season (June - September) and the weather, we will visit the Yaguacocha Lagoon, where it is possible to observe the most representative aquatic plant, the “regal victory” and the hoatzín or “shansho” (Opisthocomus hoatzin), a colorful species of bird It feeds on aquatic flora. This is an exciting hike in which your spirit of adventure will emerge and you will definitely enjoy it. Return to the lodge.

We will stop for lunch and rest.

Day 2: Saturday

Stop At: Amazon River, Iquitos 16000 Peru
Wake up early and catch a glimpse of the majestic sunrise over the Amazon River. Then, enjoy a healthy breakfast before starting your day.

With your local guide, explore the Yacapana Isles, home to many species of iguanas and other wildlife. As you cruise down the Amazon River, you'll have excellent photo opportunities of the native flora and fauna along the riverbanks. You can also learn how to fish for piranhas in the Amazon with your naturalist guide!

Enjoy time to rest before lunch on board the Aria. Then, head to the Yarapa River, where you'll have the opportunity to see the famous pink freshwater dolphins. As nightfall approaches, keep an eye out for nocturnal wildlife including frogs and bats before returning to the Aria.

Back on board, enjoy a pisco sour before dinner on the roof deck.

Day 3: Sunday

Stop At: Ucayali River, Atalaya Peru
Early in the morning, go on an optional excursion, if you wish, to see the wildlife along the Ucayali River. Then, enjoy breakfast on board in the dining room before a jungle hike.

Hike through the Amazon Rainforest to the small village of Magdalena. Interact with locals, and then head further into the rainforest with your guide and make your way to a beautiful lake, home to the famous giant water lilies. Then head back to the Aria for lunch and time to rest.

After lunch, set off on foot along the Ucayali River with your guide to spot pink dolphins, monkeys, birds and other wildlife native to the Amazon. As you walk through the rainforest, keep an eye out for colorful macaws and howler monkeys.

When you’re back on board the Aria, enjoy the beautiful sunset before dinner.

Day 4: Monday

Stop At: Amazon Rescue Center, Carr. Iquitos-Nauta Km 4, 5,, Iquitos 16000 Peru
This morning, we will visit the local fresh market with your guides who can identify the day’s catch by the fishermen of Amazonia and the region’s exotic fruits. Return to the ARIA for breakfast and to pack up. Before saying goodbye, we visit the Manatee Rescue Center, a kind of animal orphanage for Amazonian manatees to rescue, rehabilitate and release them back into the wild. We will also visit San Juan craft market on route to the airport. Lunch or box lunch will be provided, depending on the exact departure flight time, which may vary. Other local activities may be included as well, according to the flight schedule.
