The construction of the fortress began on August 1, 1747, and the first stone was placed in the Torreon de la Reina, and was completed in 1774. This fortress has a size of 70000 m2, El Real Felipe is a site museum And has the shape of an irregular pentagon, its towers called King, Queen, San Felipe, San Carlos and San José. Only the bastions of the King and Queen have towers called knights. The Real Felpe fully fulfilled his role of gendarme and defender of the coasts. I stand firm on the threats and attacks of the most famous and feared pirates and corsairs of the time and then, was the scene of events that marked the course of the history of Peru and America.

The visit to the Real Felipe is done in approximately 1 hour and a half, by the places of the circuit of scheduled visit, which is done with guides of the own institution. It is considered a rest of 10 to 15 minutes. In fact, if one wishes to know the whole museum in detail, it may take a couple of full days. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Day 2: Chachapoyas - Gocta Waterfall

Stop At: Catarata de Gocta, Valera Peru
We will be headed to the town of San Pablo de Valera, located 26 miles from the city of Chachapoyas. From there, we will begin our journey towards Gocta waterfall (an hour and a half on horseback plus one hour walk). Along the way, we will enjoy the great diversity of flora and fauna, and a splendid view of the waterfall. Gocta Waterfall, locally known as "La Chorrera", is 771 meters high and it is considered among the highest waterfalls in the world. It is the perfect habitat for toucans, monkeys, mountain lions and Andean cocks-of-the-rock. It is located in a large cloud- covered forest, around which there are about twenty waterfalls. It offers a beautiful combination of geography and history, making it a magical place. We will return to San Pablo and have a traditional lunch.

Day 3: Chachapoyas - Kuelap Fortress

Stop At: Kuelap Fortress, Carretera a Kuelap, Chachapoyas Peru
In the morning, we will go to Kuelap, a majestic architectural site built by the Chachapoyas. On our way, we will make a brief stop for a panoramic view of the Macro Archaeological site, also known as "Macro Towers" for its characteristic design. Macro is located on the side of a hill overlooking Utcubamba river. As follows we will go to Nuevo Tingo town, where we will board the bus that will take us to the Cable Car station. Once on board the modern cable cars, a short and safe trip will take us to the starting point of the visit to Kuelap. We may climb on foot or on horseback to the "Fortress", which is built on top of the Cerro Barreta (3,000 m.a.s.l.). Kuelap is a place surrounded by beautiful landscapes; at first, it seems inaccessible since it is protected by colossal walls and cliffs on three of its four sides. It has three platforms, and inside they have circular buildings decorated with rhomboidal and zigzag friezes. Its complex interior architecture, indicates it was a well-organized population group. The surrounding landscape and the natural scenarios makes it unforgettable. We will return to Nuevo Tingo town for lunch. Then return to Chachapoyas city.

Stop At: Plaza de Armas de Cajamarca, Centro historico de Cajamarca, entre el Jr. Comercio y el Jr. 2 de Mayo, Cajamarca Peru

Tour of the main attractions in the city of Cajamarca. Visit the Hill of Santa Apolonia, natural vantage point in the center of the city from where you can appreciate the whole city and the valley of Cajamarca. Here you also find the so called Silla del Inca, which was a pre-Inca ceremonial altar. Then proceed to the Monumental Complex of Belen, with the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad. Then continue to the "Cuarto del Rescate", where the Inca Atahualpa, last king of the Incas, was held prisoner. Then visit the exteriors of the temple of San Francisco, built in 1562 and inhabited by the first Franciscans. Also visit the Plaza de Armas, and the exterior of the Cathedral, built in the seventeenth century, with a facade that is a refined sample of Baroque art, standing out its main altar made completely of gold leafs. After the visit, transfer back to the hotel.
